“Walking Football” is a football adapted for people over 50 (Men and Women) or for people with reduced mobility. (Disabled, …).
It aims to encourage people over 50 to engage in physical activity and to create or strengthen social bonds.
Appeared in England in 2011 at the initiative of Chesterfield Community Trust. This sport is now well established in England with over & 1 200 clubs.
In France, under the banner of a Breton walking football association, initiated by Sheelagh and Jeff Smith of Silfiac, it now has the recognition of football authorities (such as French Football Federation, Breton Football League, District 56 …) and seeks to develop through demonstrations, friendly matches and the organization of tournaments by teams already existing in France, such as Le Trévoux, Bourgbarré, Tinténiac (in Brittany) plus Aulnay, Moncé-en-Belen …).
